In
1990, I left the federal government after 10 years of working in the
information field, first with Statistics Canada in Toronto and then with
Industry Canada in Saskatoon.
It was an excellent learning ground for understanding the needs of
business and the gaps that existed in information for start up companies.
When I realized that my personal goals could no longer be filled in
employment, I left to start a company geared towards providing information
to businesses. To
complement my experience, I pursued and obtained an MBA here at the
University of Saskatchewan, a place that I continue to be involved in
through teaching MGT447, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development,
to 4th year Commerce students.
I
quickly realized that I wasn’t interested in doing research for
businesses but was more interested in helping them do it themselves.
Thus started the journey that evolved into what we do today and
have been doing for the past 12 years – entrepreneurship training and
development. In 1995
my husband joined the company bringing his expertise as an entrepreneur,
technology fanatic, and teacher.
The
business is built upon experience, training, research and experience,
experience, experience. We
strongly believe in entrepreneurs teaching entrepreneurs so that is how we
have built the business. All
facilitators are business owners who have expertise in the areas
entrepreneurs need.
If
you were to ask me what I want to do with my life, I would say it is doing
exactly what I am doing now. Of
course we are growing the business and branching into new areas in a
planned way, but I can't imagine what could be better than working with
people whose passion for their idea is at least as much as ours is for
helping them reach their dreams.
It is a thrill to see people start with an idea, research it,
struggle with it, make mistakes, fix those mistakes, struggle some more, and in the end, design the business into
an enterprise that they are proud of.
We
have our experience plus the experience of all these start up companies to
bring to you. We look
